You can visit the Teatro La Rondinella, the Ghergo Photography Museum, and buy local specialities directly from the farm shops of the area's wineries, oil mills and delicatessens. The village is also home to the Centro Studi Biblici Giovanni Vannucci, founded from the experience of two Servite friars and biblical scholars, Alberto Maggi and Ricardo Pérez Márquez.

Montefano is an exceptional starting point: whichever direction you choose to go, you'll find something worth the detour — or the trip.
Just 5 minutes from Montefano lies Recanati, a "Comune d'Europa" and birthplace of poet Giacomo Leopardi. Walking through its historic centre means strolling the same streets where the poet composed his most famous poem, "L'Infinito" ("The Infinite"). The hill he wrote it from is still there, unchanged, with the hedge and the view that stopped time. Don't miss the Torre di Montefiore either, a medieval watchtower overlooking the village — visible even from the apartment's balcony.
A few minutes' drive away lies Loreto, one of Italy's most important places of worship. The Basilica della Santa Casa, a pilgrimage site for centuries, houses an icon of the Madonna venerated around the world. A stop that combines art, history and spirituality, with a view from the square in front that opens all the way to the sea.
Macerata is the cultural heart of the province, with an elegant historic centre and the Arena Sferisterio, an extraordinary 19th-century open-air arena that hosts the renowned Macerata Opera Festival every summer. An evening of opera under the stars is an experience not to miss if you're staying in the area.
Porto Recanati is less than half an hour away. But if you're after something wilder, Monte Conero awaits with some of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic: Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle, reachable only by boat or on foot, Portonovo, Spiaggia Urbani, Numana, Sirolo. Turquoise water, white cliffs dropping straight into the sea, and coves that could pass for far-flung destinations, just 30-40 minutes by car.
In the opposite direction from the sea, the peaks of the Marche Apennines open up. Visso, Genga with its Frasassi Caves, the Tempio del Valadier and the Monte Vettore massif offer trails for every level, grey stone villages, beech woods and endless views. Ideal for a day of trekking, or simply to find some silence in a landscape that has nothing to envy the Dolomites.
